Jar of Empty Promises

I lay down late on my bed and reminisce,

Trying to remember the jar that you gifted,

There were times when I trusted every word;

Every syllable that came out your silver tongue,

Your words were like my balm

You could make me the queen of stars,

Let me own a bungalow in the moon-

I would believe it all, trust you with my being

The sudden irony of our situation hit hard,

Brought me back to earth;

My head hit the ground hard and I couldn’t breath,

The ache of my heart took long to dissolve,

Merely wished you to be true, when you were just a dream;

The jar filled with promises was empty.

    1. Is it common for every woman to fall in traps of such man?

      Sometimes I don’t understand, why I make the same mistake every time. But they are again so convincing that all my resolution goes downhill
