As I already promised this month all my posts will be based on food items of our country.Today I present to you people one of the most popular fast food of India, the panic puri.
How and when the dish was first discovered is not known but it’s said in folklore that it was first prepared in Bihar. Exclui India it is also prepared in Nepal,Pakistan, Bangladesh.
In different places it is prepared using a different techniques , but the main ingredients are same everywhere. The puri is made of flour and then fried in oil. It is sometimes filled with basic boiled smashed potato , salt,red chilly powder, coriander leaves to make it more special people add chick peas and date sauce to it and then there is the charming it is mostly prepared using tamarind water, that is water in which tamarind pulp is diluted and mixed along with some salt. In Uttar Pradesh there is a particular place where five types of chatni are mixed with the purity which may include lemon water, tamarind water, date water etcetera.
This dish has also got variety of names such as .Pani puri in Delhi, panic ke bataashe in Uttar pradesh, Gol gappa in Mumbai, Puchka in Assam, West Bengal, Gupta Chup in Odisha.
It is enjoyed mostly during summer time due to it’s tangy taste. If street foods of India are rated then it’ll be given the highest number of stars.
